Acceptance to Top 50 UW—Madison Business School

Anastasia Caroline Liebrata (Carol) has recently been accepted to the University of Wisconsin-Madison (#42) as a Business student. She joined the GO:50 program in Fall 2019 and studied at Kings at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Fox Cities for four semesters. She was also accepted to Purdue University—West Lafayette (#53), and University of Washington, Seattle (#58).

Here, she tells us about her experience in Wisconsin so far, and how she hopes to use business as a force for positive change in her home country of Indonesia.

Hi Carol, which Kings school are you studying at and what are you studying?

I am studying Business with Kings at UWO, Fox Cities.

What made you pursue a college degree in the United States?

I wanted to be open to new experiences and study opportunities. It has also been a dream of mine to study in the United States, and I am glad this dream has come true.

What major are you interested in, and why?

"I think for me engaging in business is one way in which I want to give back to the community. My family owns a business and growing up I have been able to witness how businesses can give back to the community. I hope to use business as a force for positive change."

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I would like to pursue an internship while working to complete the actuarial exams.

Why did you choose to study at Kings at UWO, Fox Cities?

"I wanted to study here because of the support Kings offers students seeking to transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Studying here has also helped me adjust to the U.S. higher education system so I know I can be successful when I transfer."

What is your favorite class, why do you like it? What class do you find more challenging?

My favorite class was theatre. I got to help with a theatre production for this course. I enjoyed this course because it offered me new experiences that I couldn’t get back in Indonesia.

The course I found more challenging was statistics because it was a new subject for me.

Have you decided on your target schools? How did Kings staff guide you through the process?

Yes, I have already been accepted to the University of Wisconsin—Madison and am still waiting on results from the other schools I applied to.

Kings helped me a lot! The transfer admissions process is not easy so they always helped answer all my questions. They worked with me to make sure I finished everything on time and also helped me review my transfer applications and essays.

Which student activity did you enjoy the most?

"I really enjoyed all the trips we have taken. We have gone to Chicago, Madison, skiing, and Six Flags."

I really enjoyed those trips.

What is your favorite part of living in Appleton/Menasha?

"My favorite part of living here is that it is quiet and always peaceful. It is also a very safe place. My parents were worried about safety, but people here are kind and friendly."
