Our Bath Residential Summer Centre is based at Downside School.

This classic 'Harry Potter'-style English boarding school is one of the oldest and most prestigious private schools in the country.

Downside occupies a beautiful 500-acre estate at the foot of the Mendip Hills and offers excellent facilities.

The centre is ideally situated just 30 minutes south of the city of Bath, in Somerset, and three hours from London.

Meal plan

Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided every day.

Lunch and dinner are usually hot; on excursion days students are given a packed lunch.

Summer Course

15 hours of English lessons per week plus full programme of sports, activities and excursions.

  • Start dates: 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 July; 5 August 2020
  • Duration: 1 – 4 weeks (1-week bookings accepted for 29 July, 5 and 12 August starts only)
  • Minimum entry level: Beginner
  • Age range: 8 – 12 and 13 – 17 (separate classes and some separate activities for the two age groups)

Typical activities

Core activities for Summer Course students include:

Cookery

Students learn how to cook traditional British and international food, and make a range of dishes from start to finish. Students also learn about food hygiene.

Plus

Arts and crafts, badminton, barbecue, basketball, cricket, dance, dodgeball, football, movie night, pool parties, quizzes, rugby, salsa, squash, swimming, table tennis, talent shows and volleyball.
