Chaewon from South Korea (pictured above at another event earlier this year) is currently in her third semester at UWO. She recently had the opportunity to attend the St. Norbert College Pi Mu Epsilon Undergraduate Regional Conference on Saturday, November 8.
Pi Mu Epsilon (PMU) is dedicated to the promotion of mathematics and recognition of students who successfully pursue mathematical understanding. It organizes national and regional conferences where mathematicians assemble to present their research and solve problems together.
Below is Chaewon's reflection of her experience.
"I arrived early at the Center, excited to present my research titled Numerical Stability and Convergence of Physics-Constrained Neural Networks in Vibration Modeling. My work explores a hybrid framework that integrates physics with neural networks, specifically using partial differential equations to model vibrations—a concept I’ve been developing in collaboration with my math professor.
Throughout the day, I had the chance to connect with students presenting on both pure and applied mathematics. It was inspiring to see a wide range of topics, and I appreciated the opportunity to share ideas and learn from others.
After the presentations, we wrapped up the day with math-based card and board games. It was fun and engaging to explore new mathematical concepts in a relaxed setting."
