Yue (Laura) studied the Advanced Level Foundation, and was awarded the Kings scholarship for her fantastic results. She took up a place to study Accounting and Finance at the University of Manchester.
"I finished my high school in China and decided to do something different and study abroad. It was quite difficult to gather information for myself in China, so I went to an agent who recommended Kings to me. I wanted to do the Foundation to prepare for university. I liked that it was a one year course too.
I did CSS (Communication and Study Skills), Data, Maths, Geography and Economics. On the Data course they taught us about Excel which has been very important for my course. Also in CSS we learnt about referencing, and how to write academically which is very important in university life.
When I graduate I'd like to be an accountant or a financial analyst. The University of Manchester has a perfect group of staff that can help you improve your employability. We have massive events, talks, workshops on campus every month and the group also offer individual help on CVs, cover letters and interviews. In addition, they have particular section for Chinese students that can help us get a job in China if we planned to go back after graduated in the UK. I do think this is a big attraction for me."
