Leda Camila Andrade Padre studied the Advanced Level Foundation at Kings before winning a place to study Civil Engineering at UCL.
"UCL is really central, near to the big attractions and I know that it is responsible for the British Museum and other important places like that. I think it's also one of the top places to study Engineering in the UK.
"My dream has always been to study in an English-speaking country as English is the language that can take you anywhere.
"If I found a good job here after (university) I might work here for a while. I expect to have great opportunities to travel and work in different countries around the world and then when I have enough experience I can go back to my country (Cape Verde) and help develop it — it’s a country in development so it needs change and infrastructure."
