Meet Jichan, a GCSE Year 2 student at Kings Bournemouth. Originally from South Korea, Jichan spent five months studying in Malaysia before coming to the UK. He noticed that being surrounded by many fellow Korean students limited his opportunity to improve his English, so he decided to join Kings Bournemouth to gain new experiences and develop his language skills.

Understandably, Jichan was a little nervous about his first day at school. However, he quickly found the school community welcoming and friendly. “The students were very kind and supportive, and the teachers were extremely helpful,” he says. “It was easy for me to make friends and settle in.”
Before starting GCSE Year 2, Jichan arrived early in the summer to study English in other departments. This extra preparation helped him feel confident and ready for the academic year, and he says it went very well. He also joined the school football team and was thrilled to be selected for a recent tournament. “We won the tournament, but it was a team effort — everyone played really well,” he shares.

Jichan highly recommends Kings Bournemouth to other students. “The teachers here are always ready to help and genuinely care about you. That’s the best thing about this school — they always make sure you’re supported.”
