Having previously studied abroad in Dubai, she shares how her experience in the UK has been different, what she enjoys most about living by the sea, and how the supportive environment at Kings has helped her feel at home.
Q: Can you introduce yourself and tell us what you are studying?
A: Hi, my name is Anna and I’m from Saint Petersburg in Russia. I’m currently in my final year of A-levels, studying Economics and Mathematics at Kings Education in Bournemouth.
Q: Have you studied abroad before coming to the UK?
A: Yes, before coming to the UK I spent a year studying at an international school in Dubai. However, the experience here in the UK has been quite different.
Q: What differences have you noticed living in Bournemouth?
A: I feel that the environment and the people here are very friendly and welcoming. People are open and warm, and that made it easier for me to settle in. I also really enjoy living in a town like Bournemouth rather than a big city. It’s right next to the sea, and I love going to the beach, especially during the summer.
Q: Are you involved in any activities at school?
A: Yes, I’m part of the Student Council, where we take part in organising different events for students. I really enjoy being involved and contributing to the school community.
Q: What are your plans after finishing your A-levels?
A: My first choice university is the University of Southampton, which is part of the Russell Group. I’m hoping to continue my studies there after finishing my A-levels.
Q: How would you describe your experience at Kings?
A: I’ve had a very positive experience, especially when it comes to the teachers and staff. They are very friendly and always willing to help, no matter what the issue is.
When it comes to lessons, I never feel embarrassed or ashamed to ask questions. Teachers explain topics clearly and support you whenever you need help. Overall, it creates a very warm environment, it really feels like a family.
