Kings MedSoc is an integral part of our Super-Curriculum in Oxford, designed to support both A-level Medical students and those enrolled on the DPP Medical Pathway. This programme provides students with practical, hands-on experience that extends far beyond the classroom, helping them develop the foundational skills required for future medical study and healthcare careers.
Hands-on clinical training
Through Kings MedSoc, students gain exposure to core clinical techniques, including:
- Vital signs monitoring: learning how to accurately take a pulse, measure blood pressure, and assess oxygen and glucose levels.
- Clinical simulation: using a training arm model to practise identifying correct injection sites and performing blood collection in a safe, controlled environment.
- Practical skills development: building confidence and precision in essential medical procedures and developing the professional habits required in patient care.
Building skills for the future
This immersive experience enables students to develop technical ability, scientific understanding, and confidence in a setting that mirrors real-world medical practice.
By engaging with these activities early in their academic journey, students are better prepared for university-level medical programmes and future careers within the healthcare sector.
