Our International High School students have spent three exciting days in Belfast, Northern Ireland, exploring the city, learning about its history, and enjoying some unforgettable experiences. Led and supervised by Diana and Alp, the trip offered students a mix of education, sightseeing, and unique experiences — including a visit to the official Game of Thrones Studio Tour.
Day 1: Exploring Belfast
The group travelled from Bournemouth to Belfast City Airport and checked into Hostelling International Belfast, located close to the city centre.
Once settled, we started exploring Belfast with a Hop-On Hop-Off sightseeing bus tour, which gave students a great overview of the city. We also visited several key landmarks, including:
- Belfast City Hall
- Cathedral Quarter
- The Big Fish sculpture
In the evening, everyone enjoyed a relaxed group dinner and some free time to unwind after a busy first day.
Day 2: Game of Thrones Studio Tour
Day two took us to the Game of Thrones Studio Tour, located on the original filming site. Students had the chance to:
- See real sets, costumes, weapons, and props
- Learn how scenes were filmed and how visual effects were created
- Experience what it’s like to be behind the scenes of a major TV production
This was a highlight for many students and a great insight into the world of filmmaking and media production.
Day 3: Giant’s Causeway
On the final day, some students joined an optional trip to the Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the northern coast. They spent time exploring the famous basalt rock formations and enjoying the dramatic coastal views.
After returning to Belfast, we headed to the airport and travelled back to Bournemouth.
From panoramic coastal views to film set discoveries, the Belfast trip offered an unforgettable mix of education, culture, and adventure.
