A-level and Degree Pathway Programme Politics students at Kings Brighton recently enjoyed an exciting and educational visit to Parliament, giving them a valuable opportunity to experience British politics first-hand.

During the trip, students were taken on a guided tour of the historic buildings, where they learned more about the history, traditions, and day-to-day workings of the UK government. Seeing the famous chambers and corridors in person helped bring many of the topics they study in class to life.

One of the highlights of the visit was watching a live debate in the House of Commons. Students were particularly excited to see former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak speaking during the session, giving them a real insight into parliamentary discussion and political debate at the highest level.

As part of the experience, the students also took part in an interactive workshop where they worked together to create their own political parties. They came up with party names, discussed key policies, and designed manifestos outlining their ideas and priorities for the country. The activity encouraged teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking, and students thoroughly enjoyed the chance to debate issues and present their own political visions.

The visit was both informative and inspiring, helping students to deepen their understanding of politics beyond the classroom. Who knows — there may even be a future Prime Minister or world leader among them!
