About Victoria
Victoria University of Wellington, full name Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, was established in 1897 and is one of New Zealand’s largest and most prestigious universities, offering a world-class learning and teaching environment. The University’s central location gives students access to diverse national organisations in the areas of business, government, politics, culture and heritage, the arts and filmmaking industry, and science and technology communities.
Victoria University of Wellington conducts teaching and research in the following subject areas: Architecture and Design Innovation, Education, Engineering, Health, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Science, and the Wellington School of Business and Government. The University is also home to more than 40 research centres and institutes, including the Antarctic Research Centre and Centre for Data Science and AI.
Most undergraduate degrees are three-year programmes, with the exception of Engineering, Law and Midwifery, which are four-year programmes. Some degrees offer the flexibility to combine different subjects.
The University has three campuses across Wellington city: Kelburn, Pipitea and Te Aro, with the Wellington School of Business and Government located on the Pipitea campus, close to Parliament and the central business district.
The University has approximately 22,000 students, including international students from around 100 countries.
