UK/EU/EAA eligible students are those living in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, EU or EEA. This includes EU nationals who hold settled status in the UK.

To be classified as a eligible student, you normally need to meet all of the following criteria on the first day of the first academic year of your course:

1. You are settled in the UK, EU, or EEA.

This means there is no immigration restriction on the length of your stay (i.e., no visa is required).

2. You are ordinarily resident in the UK, EEA, or EU, and have been for the full three years before the first day of the academic year.

“Ordinarily resident” means that your main home is in the UK, EU, or EEA, and that you are living there by choice.
For most students under 18 who are still at school, this means living with your family.

3. Your main reason for being in the UK, EU, or EEA was not to receive full‑time education.

Therefore, international students attending boarding school in the UK are not eligible for home fee status, unless they are living in the UK with their family for another reason (for example, a parent’s employment).
