The campus

Kings Oxford St. Josephs is in the vibrant student area of Cowley, just 20 minutes from central Oxford by bus. St. Josephs is where the Academic programmes are taught.

We have an Art Department on King Edward Street, in the city centre, where students on Art programmes will do their Art classes and practice.


There are a range of accommodation options available, homestay and student residences a short walk away from St. Josephs.

Local fundraising for United World Schools

As part of our partnership with United World Schools and our commitment to fund the building and resourcing of at least one new school in Cambodia each year, Kings Oxford staff and students organize fundraising events on a regular basis.

Accreditation and awards

Kings Oxford is accredited by the British Council. Accreditation UK, run by the British Council and English UK, is the quality assurance scheme for the UK ELT sector.

Kings Oxford is registered as an independent school with the UK Government Department for Education, and is subject to regular inspection by Ofsted. See below for details of the most recent inspections.

Kings Oxford is also a registered UCAS centre.

We are ESL School Group of the Year 2017.
ESL are one of the largest and most respected agencies for language courses in Europe.

All ESL awards are based on feedback from their students and staff.

British Council report – June 2016

Kings Oxford was inspected and accredited by the British Council on 7–9 June 2016.

The Accreditation Scheme assesses the standards of management, resources and premises, teaching, welfare, and care of under 18s and accredits organisations which meet the overall standard in each area inspected: see for details.

The inspection report stated that Kings Oxford met the standards of the Scheme.

Strengths were noted in the areas of staff management, student administration, quality assurance, academic management, course design, learner management, teaching, care of students, leisure opportunities, and care of under 18s.

Ofsted report – February 2019

All Kings Oxford sites were inspected with a day's notice and over the period of three days by Ofsted on 26-28 February 2019.

The Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted) is the official body for inspecting schools in the UK. Inspectors visit schools, sit in lessons, view student work, speak to students, teachers, management and parents and rate the school on the basis of their findings. Ratings go from Outstanding to Inadequate  (Outstanding - 1, Good - 2, Requires improvement - 3, Inadequate - 4). 

Kings Oxford received the following rating:

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment: Good
Personal development, behaviour and welfare: Good
Outcomes for pupils: Good

Boarding school welfare report

Boarding provision for students aged under 18, in homestay and residential accommodation, was inspected on 5–7 October 2016.

The impact and effectiveness of leaders and managers: Good - 2

The boarding school provides effective services that meet the requirements for Good.

Teacher numbers and qualifications

Kings Oxford employs approximately 40 teachers.

For academic subject teachers we expect a minimum qualification of a first degree, although the majority of our teachers hold a PGCE qualification and/or Masters degree. 

For English language teachers, we expect a minimum qualification of CTEFLA (or a PGCE plus first degree), although the majority of our teachers hold a Diploma qualification or Masters degree.
