There’s something special about the small moments that turn a place into home, and last week at Kings Brighton, our residential students did exactly that.
As part of our Design Your Door Sign Night, students came together for an evening of creativity, laughter, and self-expression. Armed with pens, paints, and plenty of imagination, each student designed a personalised sign for their bedroom door, transforming simple spaces into reflections of who they are.
No two designs were the same. Some were bold and colourful, others minimal and thoughtful. Many featured inside jokes, cultural references, or symbols of home. Each one told a story. It was a reminder that when students arrive at Kings, they don’t just bring a suitcase, they bring their identity, their experiences, and their creativity.
Moments like these create natural opportunities for students to bond, share ideas, and learn more about each other’s backgrounds. It’s about building a genuine sense of belonging, a home away from home where students feel safe, inspired, and connected. These activities are a small part of that bigger picture, helping students settle in, express themselves, and create memories that stay with them long after their course ends.
