Social and enrichment programme

Transport costs

Here are some guide prices for travelling in and around Oxford.

If you are staying in homestay accommodation you may be required to travel by public transport.

Bus

Oxford bus tickets are cheaper if purchased from this app: https://www.oxfordbus.co.uk/app

City Zone Extra (the whole of Oxford): £6 per day, £25 per week, £79 per 4 weeks

Train

Oxford to or from London: between £6 and £12

Single to or from Gatwick Airport: £21.50 - £27.50

Single to or from Heathrow Airport: £19.90 – £64.00

If you think you will travel a lot by train, you may like to get a railcard. A Young Persons Railcard available to students aged 16-25 for £30, offering 1/3 discount on Off-Peak rail fares (some students aged over 25 may also be eligible).

Course materials and exam fees

Course Books

Students are provided with study materials, but you may choose to buy a course book if you feel it will help you study. Course books cost about £30. You may also want to buy additional self-study materials to help you during your stay, and a grammar books costs around £25.

Examination Fees

If you would like to take an examination during your stay with us, please speak to your teacher, the Director of Studies or the Assistant Director of Studies. You can prepare for an exam at Kings but the exam itself will take place in an exam centre in Oxford.

Kings Oxford is the IELTS Test Centre for Oxfordshire.

IELTS £195

UKVI IELTS £205 (cannot be taken in Oxford)

Cambridge B2 First: £180

Cambridge C1 Advanced: £180

Cambridge C2 Proficiency: £180

You can book the Cambridge examinations and IELTS examinations through Kings Oxford. TOEIC is not currently offered in the UK. If you wish to book a TOEFL examination you should do direct on the internet. Our office staff can tell you the website address.
