Understanding International Student Admissions at Yale University

Kings Los Angeles Progression Manager, Martha Turner, explains the competition facing international students applying to top US universities, and how Kings can help.

I recently visited Yale University and had the opportunity to review their admissions process. Due to the immense competition for admission, Ivy League schools such as Yale have a rigorous selection process, when considering admission to future 'Yalies'.

With a National University ranking of #3, acceptance rates of 7%, and graduation rates topping 96%, Yale University is one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the United States. Rich in history, academics, sports, campus programs and student life, Yale receives close to 30,000 applications per year and admits approximately 2,000 students.

How can international students achieve admission to Yale? Similar to domestic students, focus is placed on academic excellence and potential, rigor of academics, and campus activities.

"Most importantly, international students need the support of expert university advisors to help guide them through academic preparation and the university admission process."

The advantage of the Kings pathway programs is that we offer high quality programs that prepare students academically, while developing their student profile. Kings' experienced university advisors (Progression Advisors) guide students with developing an education plan for their area of study, course selection, campus resources and activities, SAT preparation (if required or strongly recommended), and all aspects of university applications.

During their studies with Kings Education, students are provided the academic resources to prepare for admission to Ivy universities such as Yale, while discovering the many different aspects of American culture.
