Two minutes with... Nino Bitsadze

We meet Nino Bitsadze, Kings New York's Center Director, who tells us about herself and some of her favorite places.

What do you do at Kings?
I am the Center Director at Kings New York.

How long have you worked for Kings and what did you do before?
I have been working at Kings since July 2018. Before joining Kings, I worked as an adjunct professor of English as a Second Language at Seton Hall University in New Jersey. I also served as the East Coast Regional Academic Manager at Education First for the Language Travel and Educational Homestay Programs, and managed an IELTS testing center in New Jersey.

What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?
I enjoy the diversity, the fast pace, and the countless opportunities for intercultural learning. I also enjoy helping people from all over the world achieve milestones, be it becoming conversant in English, figuring out the NYC subway map, or being admitted into a dream university.

What do you most like about where you live now?
I live in a vibrant neighborhood of Newark, NJ, on the border of South Orange and Maplewood. I love the fact that I can easily walk to several grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, banks, post office, train and bus stations, a well-known performing arts center, and even a beautiful hiking trail with a waterfall! I also love the fact that many of the local business owners know their customers by name. It creates a great sense of community.

Where is the best place you have visited?
Iceland was fascinating with all of its geysers, lava lands, and the Northern Lights, but Batumi — a seaside town on the Black Sea coast in Georgia — is my happy place.

What is the last book you read?
'Option B' by Sheryl Sandberg. It provides wonderful perspectives on facing adversity, building resilience, and finding joy in life.

What is your favourite film?
Forrest Gump. That's all I have to say about that.

What would be your ideal character to play in a film?
Any role that would require me to learn to play classical piano.

Which well known figure would you most like to invite to the dinner?
The Georgian band Mgzavrebi and the Afro-Peruvian band Novalima with all of their cool musical instruments. It would be more like a dinner party.

What is your favourite quote?
"Do everything yesterday" — My father (who does not like to procrastinate).
