Two minutes with… Kathleen Frost
Meet Kings at UW–Fox Valley's Kathleen Frost!
What do you do at Kings?
I am an ESL Instructor at Kings on the campus of UW-Fox Valley.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy hearing the students talk about their home countries and their experiences in the United States. Some of the differences are surprising. Overall, I am reminded that people are people, no matter where they call home.
How long have you worked for Kings and what did you do before?
I have been working for Kings since February 2019. I have always been a teacher. My certifications are ESL, Instrumental Music, and General Music. My experiences include teaching band and general music in public schools and substitute teaching. I teach English language to adults at local literacy centers, and I have volunteered in local ELA and ESL classrooms.
What do you like most about Wisconsin?
The many gorgeous state parks and polka dancing. My husband, son and I enjoy tent camping. Devils Lake State Park is our favorite location. As Chad Przbylski fans, my husband and I attend Pulaski Polka Days every year.
Where is the best place you have visited?
The Badlands of North Dakota are beautiful! Camping near the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park was the trip of a lifetime.
What is the last book you read?
'Pandora' by Anne Rice. My mom picked it up for me. Horror fiction is not something I generally read, but the fantasy and historical aspects of the story appealed to me.
What is your favorite film?
Star Wars. I prefer Episodes I, V, and Rogue One.
Which well known figure would you most like to invite to dinner?
Natalie Portman or John Williams. Natalie Portman is an educated professional who values family. John Williams is an accomplished musician and composer who my son and I admire.
What is your favourite quote?
"Don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff." — Richard Carlson (My dad reminds me regularly.)
