Two minutes with… Mandi Haag

Meet our new Progression advisor in Wisconsin, Mandi Haag.

Hi Mandi. How long have you worked at Kings and what did you do before?

I just started September 20th! Before coming to Kings, I worked with At-Risk Youth as a Resource Teacher and Academic Instructor. I also have experience as an ESL teacher and have worked with students from 4K-70 years old.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Working one-on-one with students to create a plan and being a support system to help reach goals.

What do you like most about Wisconsin?

There are many places that offer great live music and theater throughout Wisconsin. I also love Fall in Wisconsin! It is the perfect time for bonfires with friends and family, or walks to check out the changing leaves. Plus, it’s soup season and I love making giant batches of tasty soup.

Where is the best place you’ve visited?

Denver, Colorado is the best place I have visited. Great food and music, plus it’s so close to amazing downhill ski areas.

What is the last book you read?

11/22/63 by Stephen King.

What is your favorite film?

Jurassic Park.

What would be your ideal character to play in a film?

Someone fun, and quirky...like Jessica Day in New Girl!

Which well-known figure would you most like to invite to dinner?

I would love to have dinner with Toni Morrison, because her writings inspired me to get out of my comfort zone.

What is your favorite quote?

"If you want to fly, you have to give up the things that weigh you down." -Toni Morrison
