October at Kings Oxford means one thing – spooky season!
Activities throughout the month included decorating the school, pumpkin carving, a visit to the Oxford Castle and Prison, and lastly, our much anticipated annual Halloween disco.
Glenda, our Senior Activity Leader organised an activity so that students who hadn’t had the opportunity to carve a pumpkin before were able to - check out the photos to see who’s design you like best! These were then proudly displayed around the school and used as decorations for the disco the following day.
Then, on Thursday 24th, the atmosphere was one of excitement and relief as many of our academic students had been taking their termly progress tests. So, the party served as a celebration of exams coming to an end as well as getting halfway through the term.
Some students set about rushing around to find last minute costumes, while others had been planning their costumes for some time. With over 70 students in attendance at the disco, the atmosphere was lively and excitable. Students enjoyed chatting and dancing, meeting other students from our St Michael's campus and getting some spooky snacks and refreshments throughout the evening.
A more cultural and historical visit led by the activities team over the half term break was to the Oxford Castle and Prison. Students were able to step inside the walls of the cells, each one telling a story of the prisoners that lived there, all from common thieves to high-born ladies accused of murder. Students were able to climb the castle walls and look out onto the city of Oxford, all whilst taking in the eerie, spooky atmosphere of the medieval architecture and all its history.
All in all, spooky season at Kings Oxford 2024 was a great success!
