Receiving a transfer offer to the University of Wisconsin–Madison
Nicole Tang, from Malaysia, joined Kings at the UWO-Fox Cities in Spring 2018 and has spent three semesters here. Aside from her near-perfect GPA, she has also been very involved in campus life.
Nicole's choice of major is Actuarial Science, and she has been accepted to UW–Madison's College of Letters and Science as a Pre-Business student. She is currently waiting to hear from Madison's School of Business, since the transfer results come out in June.
Hi Nicole. What made you pursue a college degree in the United States?
For me, the flexibility and wide range of courses to choose from made studying in the United States very attractive.
What major are you interested in, and why?
The major I am most interested in is Actuarial Science. For me, the elements included in this major and in this field are challenging, but that is what makes it interesting.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I hope to take the actuary exams and launch a career in that field.
Why did you choose to study at Kings at UWO-Fox Cities?
I chose to study at Kings Fox Cities because the school is part of the University of Wisconsin system and there is a transfer agreement between UWO–Fox Cities and the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
What is your favorite class, and which class do you find more challenging?
My favorite class is Philosophy. It was interesting learning about the philosophers and the professor was a great guy. The more challenging class for me has been Literature.
Have you decided on your target schools? How did Kings staff guide you through the process?
Yes, I have chosen and applied to my target schools. So far, I have been accepted to the University of Wisconsin–Madison, but I am waiting to hear back from other schools.
The Kings staff was very helpful in walking me through this process. My Progression Advisor made me a transfer plan with all the important information for comparison, which I thought was helpful.
Has there been any difficulties with classes or life in general?
Not really, I have enjoyed my time here at Kings at University of Wisconsin–Fox Valley.
Which student activity did you enjoy the most?
"One of my favorite parts about being a student at Kings is there are many great opportunities to get involved."
I have been a part of Business Club during my time here and am currently serving as Business Club's treasurer. I am also a campus Mathematics and Economics tutor and have really enjoyed doing that as well.
What is your favorite part of living in Appleton/ Menasha?
Living in Menasha has allowed me to concentrate on my classes.
