What was your motivation to learn English?
I personally love the language and like to communicate with people from all over the world, so that’s one reason. I want to study International Business next year and for that I need to have a higher level of English.
In what areas do you feel like your English has improved?
Before I came to Los Angeles I hated to speak English with people because I thought that their English is way better than mine. Now I love to communicate and stopped comparing my English.

I do. I learned to be more open and to enjoy speaking English with people.
What was the most interesting lesson/thing you learned about the English language?
That some American English words and some British English words aren‘t the same, not even close. For example, in the USA you say zucchini and the UK they say courgette.

You meet a lot of nice people and it’s easy to improve your English skills. There are a lot of cool places you can visit, for example the beautiful beaches, the Griffin Observatory, you can walk to the Hollywood Sign and much more.

What was the most interesting lesson/thing you learned about the English language?
I already knew a lot about the English language when I came here because in Highschool in Germany, English as a world language is one of the main topics. Therefore, I was well informed. The only thing I found surprising is that there are words in British English that Americans don’t know because sometimes the differences between British English and American English are huge.
How was studying in LA beneficial to you?
Los Angeles is the most beautiful city I’ve ever been to. I fell in love with the beautiful beaches and the nice and warm weather. The people are so friendly, and you can do a lot e.g. going on a hike to the Hollywood sign, visiting the Griffith observatory, going surfing (which I can extremely recommend), universal studios, typical restaurants, Santa Monica pier, Venice beach, San Diego, cinemas and so much more.
Those 6 weeks in LA really showed me that I want to study here in my year abroad at college because I feel so comfortable in this city.
