Meet Andrew Roper, our new Principal at Kings Bournemouth! We sat down with Andrew to find out more about him and what he is looking forward to with his new role.
Hi Andrew, tell us about yourself!
Hi, I’m Andrew Roper and I am delighted to be Kings Bournemouth’s new Principal. I have been working in international education for over 30 years now including the last 3 years at Kings where I have been part of the business development and student recruitment teams. I am honoured to be taking on this new role in Bournemouth and to be leading the brilliant school team through the next phase of its development. I have a lot of exciting plans in mind – watch this space!
What are you looking forward to most about being Kings Bournemouth's new principal?
Kings Bournemouth is a very special place, a ‘family’ where every student is treated as an individual and given the space, time, and opportunity to achieve their potential. I have seen at first-hand how the staff devote themselves both to the personal well-being and the academic success of the students. I am delighted to be joining such a dedicated team who always put students’ interests first and are committed to delivering the very best outcomes for each and every student.
Why should prospective students choose to come to Kings Bournemouth?
It’s just a lovely place to be! Bournemouth as a town is beautiful, safe, student-friendly, a brilliant place to live. Beaches, forests, parks, all on our doorstep. I moved here with my family from Surrey 13 years ago and we find the quality of life here unbeatable. The school itself is located in tranquil woodland, which is perfect for quiet study and just a short walk from the town centre. I genuinely can’t think of a nicer place to work or study.
Tell us something personal about yourself so we know a little more about who you are!
Well, I have three children who take up most of my spare time! My favourite weekend activity is cycling in the Dorset countryside or taking my teenage boys to watch AFC Bournemouth play. The team have just won promotion to the English Premier League, so I am very much looking forward to watching them play the likes of Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea next season. Exciting times ahead both personally and professionally!
