Goodbye BBQ for Kings students at UWO-Fox Cities

Kings students in Wisconsin celebrated the end of the semester and academic year with a 'Goodbye BBQ' at the UWO, Fox Cities campus last week. Student Services Coordinator, Tirtha, reports back.

May 7, 2021, felt like life went back to “pre-covid” times, as we were able to host a Goodbye BBQ for our students. Spring 2020 felt incomplete without being able to host a proper goodbye party for our Fall 2018 students. Goodbye parties are something Kings Wisconsin hosts every semester to wish our students farewell and luck in the next chapter of their life for those transferring out and to wish a safe summer or winter break for our returning students.

On Friday, we were able to hold a proper barbeque outside the Fox Village student housing complex and enjoy the company of our students and colleagues. Chihae (Center Manager) and Tirtha (Students Service Coordinator) went shopping for the barbeque and grill. We had Korean pork belly, hamburgers, hotdogs and chicken wings and thighs for non-beef/pork eaters. There was also a vegetable platter, grapes, and cupcakes for dessert.

Students were able to enjoy music while playing sports and eat and hang out with friends before the final week and eventually the departure time.

"Goodbye parties are hosted to make memories that will last a lifetime because goodbyes are not the end — they simply mean 'we'll miss you until we meet again'!"
