Going above and beyond for our students
Kings Wisconsin on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at Fox Cities reopened to students and staff for the Fall 2020 semester.
Even in the midst of a global pandemic, Kings staff made it a priority to make sure students who were living abroad, as well as students taking in-person classes in Wisconsin, received excellent student services during their studies.
Like many universities around the world, students are able to take classes remotely from their home country. Campus Support and Housing Coordinator, Tirtha Gurung, actively corresponded with Kings Premium University (KPU) students to order and ship textbooks that were vital for students’ learning.
When studying in the US, purchasing textbooks is as simple as going to the university bookstore, or ordering online. However, many students living abroad found it challenging to purchase the textbooks required for their classes, or learnt that they would have to wait over 2 weeks to receive them.
Kings students taking classes abroad for Fall 2020 also received emails from the campus bookstore informing them that unfortunately in the present times, their textbooks could not be shipped internationally. Within 24-48 hours, Tirtha would pick-up the textbooks from the university bookstore and ship the books internationally through a private mailing service (DHL, FedEx, USPS) so that students would not fall behind in their studies.
“I would scan pages from the textbook and email them to students while they waited for their textbooks to arrive to their home.”
Providing student services is an investment that Kings Education prides itself on, especially with the increase in students taking classes remotely and the new challenges students face while taking classes from home.
The Kings Wisconsin team is continuing to reach out to students to make sure they are keeping up with their studies and are being supported both in-person as well as virtually.
