GCSE Success: Dragos's Story

Meet Dragos, a former IGCSE student at Kings London from Romania, who is now progressing over to A-Levels to study Mathematics, Politics and Psychology after achieving 3A's and a B!

"Firstly, I am proud of my GCSE results, as I believe they have shown the fruits of a year’s worth of work. I am very much aware of the fact that usually this course lasts around 2 years, which I also believe makes these achievements even more impressive.

With the little time we had to cover 2 years’ worth of material into a few months, along with the rest left for revision and mock examinations, I believe that the results were a reflection of determination and a strong work ethic.

Secondly, I believe that the class sizes are an outstanding advantage at Kings. Coming from a 30-plus-student classroom size in Romania, the amount of information and 1-1 discussions taking place at Kings was incomprehensible at first. It acted as such a relief, as well as allowing for far more alone time with the teacher, reserved for any further elaboration of the material we required.

This was a truly incredible sight to behold when I first arrived here, and definitely a strong point I would recommend to anyone interested in studying at Kings!

My biggest dream when I first arrived at Kings was, and still is, to reach a top university, either in the UK or abroad. I said to myself that I was willing to do what it takes to get there - work as much as possible, yet pay close attention to all sectors of my life, including social activities, sports and relaxation.

Kings has definitely shown me how to impeccably achieve such a balance, as I was able to see great results, along with an ample amount of time left for everything else. All in all, time management has seen a major improvement after being welcomed by Kings, and I strongly believe it is one of the most important steps towards achieving my grand dream!

Lastly, I would definitely recommend anyone who is yet to arrive to Kings to try and leave their comfort zone, meet up with new people, form new friendships, take part in the many activities present at the school, and overall have a fantastic time. One of the best things to do is to try and not stick only to the people who may share the same language as you, but rather speak to whoever you may find interesting. Not only does this vastly improve your English level, but it also allows for. Great exchanges of ideas, as well as for the creation of lasting friendships.

The International aspect at Kings is one of its strongest points - the possibility of connecting with people from all around the world, as well as the ability to learn about them, their beliefs and their unique perspective and part of the world. Everyone is different; it would be a shame not to learn about each other!

I believe I have given my fair share of views up to this point, and I would like to sum it up by simply reiterating how outstanding Kings has been, and will continue to be, at enlarging my horizons and allowing me to grow and develop my personality in such an incredible manner!

I am delighted to be part of Kings and I would definitely recommend it to international students like me!"
