Year two as a Chemical Engineering student at UCL

Kings Oxford recently checked in with former A-level student, Shin Khant Zaw (Jason), who successfully won a place to study Chemical Engineering at UCL.

“I am doing very well at UCL. I am in my second year and so far it’s been exciting. I am studying Chemical Engineering. I love London and I’ve met some new friends too! I do miss the times back at Kings.”

For Jason, his two years at Kings Oxford had a huge impact on him, “It has been a remarkable experience here at Kings. With all the teachers and staff keen to help you out, the community I would say is vibrant and compact.”

While the learning system was different for what he experienced in Myanmar, it gave him the opportunity to focus on being more independent which allowed him to develop various skills beneficial for his future studies.

“One thing I Ioved about the learning at Kings is the small and personalised classrooms. It makes it easier to interact and not feel hesitant asking questions.” Additionally, he enjoyed the engaging after-school activities that kept students busy throughout the year.

For Jason, Kings Oxford not only provided the best environment for excelling academically but also offered a wide range of social, cultural and career opportunities that prepared him to fully excel at UCL: “Kings is definitely the place to enrich your life.“
