From Kings London to university in Vietnam

Kings’ academic qualifications — GCSEs, A-levels, the Advanced Level Foundation — are recognised by higher education institutions both in the UK and around the world. Although the majority of our students choose to progress on to universities in the UK after their time at Kings, many also decide to study overseas, either in their home country, or in other popular study destinations such as Europe, the US, Australia, or Canada.

Here, we hear about the academic journey of Vu Huyen Trang Nguyen, or Helen, who studied A-levels and a foundation at Kings before beginning her undergraduate studies at university in Vietnam.

Helen studied with Kings London from 2018 to 2020. She initially enrolled on an A-level programme, studying her chosen subjects of Business, Economics and Mathematics for one year. For her second year of study, she decided to switch to the International Business Foundation course, which she completely with excellent final grades last Summer.

After completing her Kings course, Helen progressed to British University, Vietnam (BUV), to study International Hospitality Management. BUV offers internationally recognised and accredited British degrees from their campus on the outskirts of Hanoi, Vietnam.

In order to gain acceptance from BUV, she demonstrated the equivalence of her Kings IBF programme and one year of A-level study to the Vietnamese High School Diploma.

BUV university have an international faculty and follow the format and teaching style of British degrees as they would be when studied in the UK. Through her time studying with Kings, Helen was already very familiar with this style of independent learning and was well-prepared to begin her degree studies.

In 2021, Vu Thi decided she wanted to change her Major and has been in the process of applying to transfer to different universities in Vietnam. She has so far received an offer from FPT University to study English Language.

We wish her the very best of luck with the next stage of her educational journey and are delighted that Kings provided such a successful platform for her university studies.
