Kings student at Cal State Fullerton Soomin Kim shares her interest in Asian studies and her plans to work in the marketing field post graduation.
Hi Soomin. Which Kings school did you study at, and what is your major?
CSU Fullerton and my major is communication.
What made you pursue a college degree in America?
To have another perspective, open view to the world.
What major are you interested in, and why?
I’m interested in Asian study because the alumni from this major can pursue any career from their interest including but not limited into financial, government, translator.
What are your plans after graduation?
I want to work in the marketing field after I graduate.
Why did you choose to study with Kings?
I prefer the LA location, it’s nearby Hollywood.
Are there any memorable classes, why did you like it? What are the classes you found more challenging?
I like any classes related to humanity, these classes provide me a new perspective of human history, human activities, and human language development.
Which schools have you applied to and decided to transfer to? Why did you choose that university?
My target schools are UC schools, and Kings advisors provide information sessions, we meet and they help me with course registration. I’ve successfully received offers from UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Riverside. I chose to study at UC San Diego.
Has there been any difficulties with classes or life in general? What kind of assistance did you get from Kings staff?
It was my first time living in the U.S. Every time I had a questions Kings staff helped me anytime. When I had a problem with I-20 or school related problem Kings staff always helped me.
Which student activity did you enjoy the most?
I really loved the UCLA campus tour, small events like bowling and graduation party!
What is your favorite part of living in Southern California?
I like the weather the most, and diverse food.
Is there anything you wish you would’ve prepared before starting school?
I would’ve prepared more for speaking English and Math.
