Enriching my English with Fashion, Art and Design

English For Fashion, Art and Design student Justine Chatouillot, from France, shares her thoughts on living and studying at Kings New York.

Hi Justine. Where are you from?
I come from France — I live in Metz, a pretty little town next to Germany and Luxembourg.

Why did you decide to come to Kings and choose this course?
I'm here to improve my English, indeed nowadays it's very important to speak English to be able to travel around the world and work abroad. I come to Kings because this allowed me to live a full month in New York and learn art, fashion and design in addition to English classes. It was very important for me because later I want to work in this area.

In your class what do you enjoy the most?
In class what I enjoy the most is fashion class because I can learn a little bit about the history of the United States and that interests me a lot.

What has been your favorite experience studying at Kings?
I think my best memory is the discovery of New York and the meeting with students, we make lots of friend. My classmates come from all over the world like Brazil, Colombia, Italy, France, Bulgaria, Russia, Croatia, Japan, China and Taiwan.

Have you taken part in any of the extracurricular activities outside of English classes?
I have already participated in extracurricular activities like the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty, it was really nice.

Where are you staying?
I stay on campus in a room that I share with my roommate — it’s really cool.

What do you think of the school's location?
It's a bit far from New York because you have to take the train and it's a bit pricey, but it's very simple and fast, only 40 minutes. Indeed with the train we arrive in the heart of Manhattan, in the Grand Central station!

What would you say to anyone considering coming to Kings to study?
To come here is very enriching, we progress very quickly in English by talking with other students and it also allows to discover new cultures.
