Excellent performances by Kings students in 'Dream Role' production

April 20 – 22 was an exciting time at UWO, Fox Cities and Kings Wisconsin as Fox Theater was back in action.

Fox Theater is directed by Professor Susan Rabideau and hosts a range of performances, including musicals and plays every semester.

Students and community members can audition, and there are also opportunities to volunteer to help with the theater production. Some of the volunteer duties include ushering, building the set, painting, lighting, sewing costumes, and laundry.

What is even more exciting is you can earn credits while having fun.

The Spring 2023 performance of 'Dream Role' offered a fast-paced 90 minutes of show-stopping hits you have come to know and love. What made the show even more exciting this year is that three Kings students were cast to perform!

Sofiia from Ukraine, and Shuting and Yahui from China were part of the cast, while other students helped behind the scenes:

  • Spotlight operator: Zimadan (China), Woonggi (Korea)
  • Kids Wranglers: Ziyi (China), Hang (China)
  • Deck: Tian hao (China), Shen-qi (China), Jaehee (Korea)
  • Backstage sound: Yukai (China), Yahui (China)

The production included 82 performers, 10 choreographers, 218 lighting instruments, 433 costumes, 23 technicians, along with lots of dedication and practice.

Some of the numbers (songs) performed came from popular Broadway shows such as Hamilton, Six, and more, and others came from movies like Frozen, Moana, and Aladdin. There were also songs from popular bands such as The Spice Girls and Queen.

It was an amazing show full of excitement and energy, and you could feel the creativity, trust, and love for the theater at each performance.

Congratulations to all the team for the successful completion of the show.
