Meet the teachers at the Kings School of Art and Design in London
Giuseppina Esposito
"I am the UAL Foundation Diploma Director for all Kings Schools of Art + Design. I was responsible for designing the current Foundation programme which enabled Kings to become an accredited institution to run the UAL Level 3 & 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.
"I have a strong connection with UAL having studied at Camberwell College of Art (UAL) and Chelsea College of Art (UAL). I was also awarded an artist residence at Chelsea College of Art which culminated in an exhibition at Camberwell College of Art Gallery. In addition, I studied at the Slade School of Fine Art (UCL), and Institute of Education (UCL).
"I have exhibited my work both in the UK and abroad. I have curated exhibitions as part of an artist-run curatorial partnership with a fellow artist, which include artists with an international profile.
"I keep an active interest in contemporary visual art and design, perhaps inevitably, since most of the people I socialise with are artists and curators exhibiting at major biennials such as the Venice Biennale and museums such as the MAXXI in Rome."
Maria Marinho
"I gained a BA in Painting from Porto Fine Art University before being awarded a degree in Painting and Ceramics at Camberwell College of Art, UAL.
"My 30+ year career in art and design has taken me to many places and situations in Portugal and the UK. I have worked as a fashion designer, a teacher of visual art, drawing and painting, and a professional artist including as an artist in residence.
"My particular specialisms are in fashion design, pattern and garment technology, printmaking, ceramics as well as painting in oil and acrylic.
"I have exhibited my work at galleries all over the world including UK, Portugal, USA and Hong Kong. "
Michael Sheppard
"I have worked at Kings London as an art teacher on the UAL Foundation Art and Design program since 2022.
"After working with young people on artists workshops in Belfast I have wanted to become a teacher since 2020. In 2021 I completed a PGCE at UCL Institute of Education and Kings was my first proper teaching job.
"My arts education was with a BA (hons) in Fine Art from Byam Shaw School of Art in north London and MA in Fine Art Photography from the Royal College of Art in 2004. I worked on the Game of Thrones tv show for two seasons in Belfast within their costume department at Titanic Studios. I also spent several years as a set painter working in Belfast theatres such as the Lyric, Grand Opera House and the MAC."
