Over the weekend, students from Kings New York embarked on an enriching trip to Washington, DC.
We departed from the University of Mount Saint Vincent around 5 a.m., making our way to Manhattan to catch a comfortable bus bound for Washington, DC. The journey stretched for a lengthy four hours, but the early morning departure allowed us ample opportunity to relax and rejuvenate. As we settled into the spacious seats, the anticipation of exploring a vibrant new city filled us with excitement for the day ahead.
We arrived at Union Station at 11:30 a.m., a bustling hub of activity with an array of shops and dining options. After taking some time to explore the station's lively atmosphere, we proceeded to the iconic United States Capitol, the home of the US Senate and House of Representatives.
Following this, we strolled down the National Mall, a vibrant stretch filled with a diverse array of museums and landmarks. We had the opportunity to explore the captivating National Sculpture Garden, marvel at the exhibits in the Air and Space Museum and immerse ourselves in the wonders of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Our walk also took us to the iconic National Monument and the historic Lincoln Memorial, and we even caught a glimpse of the White House.
This trip is one that our students will cherish forever. It was an incredible opportunity to delve into the rich tapestry of American history, while also gaining insights into global historical contexts. The experience of exploring such significant landmarks and museums made it both educational and unforgettable.
