A night at the theater with Kings Wisconsin

Kings Wisconsin student Manami Okuyama tells us about a special night at the theater!

"On the evening of June 20, I went to see the Moulin Rouge with Kings staff Chihae and Tirtha. Before we saw the musical, Tirtha and I watched the movie first because we did not know the story of Moulin Rouge.

After watching the movie, we went to Katsuya, Japanese restaurant, near the theater. The restaurant had a lot of dishes such as Takoyaki, soba, tofu, but we ate chicken with miso carrots, shrimp tempura and sushi. The taste of food was almost the same with Japan so, it reminded me of my life in Japan.

Then, the time had come to see the Moulin Rouge. I was extremely excited because it had been my dream to see musicals in the U.S. since I was a child. Finally, my dream has come true. The stage was filled with beautiful neon lights when we entered the theater. We found our seats and the show started a few minutes later. During the show, the people in the hall were absorbed in the songs and dances. The cast sang and danced to old songs. I knew some songs, so I could enjoy them. The scene I like the most is the tango, because there was sharpness in the steps and movements.

To see a musical in the U.S., the home of the musical was unmatchable!"
