A-level students at Kings Bournemouth recently embarked on their annual biology field trip to Lesson House, an excursion that has become a highlight of the biology curriculum.
Over two days, the students immersed themselves in hands-on ecological studies, focusing on plant populations within various ecosystems.
The trip offered a unique opportunity to observe biodiversity up close and apply classroom knowledge to real-world settings. Guided by their teachers and Lesson House staff, the students engaged in population sampling techniques, including quadrat sampling and transect methods, to examine plant distribution, density, and diversity. They also learned to analyse environmental factors affecting plant growth, like soil pH and light availability, gaining insight into the complex interactions within ecosystems.
Students created a video about their time in Leeson House, which you can see on our Instagram page.
This field trip to Lesson House not only enriched their biology studies but also inspired greater appreciation for the natural world.
