What’s on in Bournemouth this spring

Bournemouth is a place that is known for its laid back vibe, its universities and emerging arts scene. Its beautiful beach was just voted 20th best in the world by Tripadvisor, and the 7-mile stretch of sand is the backdrop to many of the town's varied activities and events.
Here is just a small selection of the things happening in Bournemouth this spring!
AFC Bournemouth Premier League matches
Bournemouth's football team was promoted to the Premier League in 2015 and has remained there ever since! Its home ground, the Vitality Stadium, is where the team play and this spring fixtures include home games against Burnley, Fulham and Spurs before the season draws to a close.
Indian Summer: from Kashmir to Kerala exhibition
Running from 2nd April to 14th July 2019, this fascinating exhibition of paintings and drawings by Dorset artists Felicity House and Billa Edwards provides glimpses of India's incredible architecture and landscapes. It is being showcased at the renowned Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum in Bournemouth, and is well worth a visit.
Hold Fast: Talk by mountaineer Conrad Anker
On 9th April, one of the greatest mountaineers of our era, Conrad Anker, will be speaking at Poole's centre for the arts, Lighthouse. He is perhaps best known for locating Mallory’s body on Everest, and for being leader of the North Face climbing team. Certain to be an interesting event that will inspire you to set yourself new challenges! Even if they aren't quite as extreme as scaling Everest…
Easter Food & Craft Fayre at Kings Park
The annual food and craft fair will be held at Kings Park, Bournemouth on Easter Monday, 22nd April 2019. The event is free and guaranteed to set your tastebuds tingling!
Bournemouth and Poole Selfie Wall Trail
Enjoy a seaside walk with a difference! Bournemouth and Poole's award-winning seafront has been transformed into a work of art, with a variety of artists creating a series of murals that make fun and colourful backdrops for selfies. The Selfie Wall Trail stretches from Sandbanks all the way to Southbourne and takes in a host of cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy refreshments along the way.
Bournemouth Bay Run — half marathon, 10k or 5k run
Set against the backdrop of Bournemouth’s famous seven-mile stretch of golden sand, the Bay Run is open to runners of all abilities. Taking place on 7th April in 2019 there'll be a great atmosphere to enjoy, whether you're running, or spending a more leisurely morning watching the action from the sidelines!
China: Through the Lens of John Thomson exhibition
From 1868 – 1872, legendary photographer John Thomson travelled extensively through China and produced an extraordinary record of the country, its landscapes and its people. He is known as a pioneer of photo-journalism and one of the most influential photographers of his generation. At this exhibition at Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, you can see iconic photographs of China reproduced on a large — sometimes life-size — scale, accompanied by objects collected by Merton and Annie Russell-Cotes on their visit to China.
The Harlem Globetrotters
On 4th May 2019 the Bournemouth International Centre will play host to world-famous basketball team the Harlem Globetrotters, whose unique show highlights the incredible tricks and skills that they are so famous for!
