Graduating with a Master's in Business Communication
23 February, 2018
Kings New Jersey congratulates former Graduate Preparation Program (GPP) students on completing their studies at Rider University.
All four students completed their English language proficiency component at Kings New Jersey and matriculated into Rider University's Graduate School for Business Communication.
A couple of the students worked or had internship opportunities while taking courses at Rider University. Fiqa worked at the College of Liberal Arts' Dean’s Office on campus while Mimi interned in a pharmaceutical company in nearby Hamilton, New Jersey: "I got this opportunity due to that I majored in Business Communication at Rider. It was a perfect practice of what I have learned," she says.
Even after completing their English language studies at Kings New Jersey, many of the students participated in Kings New Jersey activities or just came to the Kings office to say hello.
Mimi tells us, "People at Kings are excellent. Erin and Chihae offered me a lot of help when I first came to this country, they treated me not only as a student but also a friend or even family of them. The teachers at Kings are also extraordinary. They are experienced in teaching and always passionate with organizing activities in class."
She also mentions that "time went by so quickly" and she learned a lot during her studies at Kings New Jersey and Rider University. "I will have more opportunities for jobs when I return to China to be with my mother," says Mimi.
Catherine has moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in search of possible work opportunities. She enjoyed the "teamwork and building relationships with classmates from different countries" as well as the "diversity and multicultural environment."
Kings New Jersey and Kings Education are very proud of the Class of 2017 and we wish them the best of luck!
My GPP experience: Qingyan (Mimi) Zhu
Before I came to Kings, I thought it was only a short-term language program that prepares me for the upcoming graduate program. However, I gained more than I expected.
I'll miss everything at Kings. If let me talk about the most impressive thing that I had here, I would say the people. People at Kings are excellent. Erin and Chihae offered me a lot of help when I first came to this country, they treated me not only as a student but also a friend or even family of them. The teachers at Kings are also extraordinary. They are experienced in teaching and always passionate with organizing activities at class. The students at Kings are great people to study with. We had a lot of fun when we were having class discussion or taking trips to New York and Washington. Some of them became my best friends and I believe we'll keep the friendship for life.
The Kings program was a great preparation for my graduate study. By taking the classes at Kings, I know how American school would be like. All the classes were conducted under the relaxing but knowledgeable atmosphere and every student was encouraged to share opinion during the class. This was pretty important for me to understand that student participation was also a key assessment in my graduate program. I also thought that the writing class was very useful to prepare me for the academic writing because it was necessary for me to get ready for the plenty of writing tasks in my graduate program.
Now I'm working part time in a pharmaceutical company in Hamilton, helping them to communicate with their clients. I got this opportunity due to that I majored Business Communication at Rider. It is a perfect practice of what I have learned. At the same time, I'm learning a lot by communicating internally and externally in a company with people from diverse culture. Since I like communicating with people, I look forward to working in the related fields in the future.
By now, I haven't decided the place where to develop my career. Thankfully, studying at Kings and Rider has made me prepared better for the future challenges that I may have no matter in America or in my home country China.
