The Senior Teacher’s main responsibility will be to support the teaching team. You will be responsible for developing materials for supplementary learning, maintaining the resources of the school and helping teachers use them effectively, organising lectures and Guided Self-Study sessions.

The Senior Teacher reports to the DoS who, in turn, is responsible to the Principal for the management of the college’s English provision.

The Senior Teacher’s specific tasks will vary with the demands of the department. Working alongside other teachers is one of the ways in which the Senior Teacher is expected to provide leadership and support.

Working and communicating with other teachers is a crucial element of this position, ensuring that teachers are aware of the support on offer and that, as a result, students’ learning needs are identified and met.

The Senior Teacher will be expected to be available to teach up to 28 x 45-min lessons per week, which may include cover as directed, although the exact details of the role’s teaching duties vary based on operational requirements. Any additional hours worked will be agreed with the DOS in advance and paid as ‘Non-Teaching Hours’.

It is understood that this list is not exhaustive and that these duties are likely to change and develop with experience and with the changing needs of the college.
