Activity Leaders are responsible for the organisation and delivery of a varied and interesting social programme for students.

Of all the staff on site, Activity Leaders will be interacting with the students the most.

It is not an office-based job with regular hours.

You must be outgoing, confident, flexible, be able to manage and motivate others, and be prepared to help others with their work when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the delivery of individual events and activities as defined on the weekly programme
  • Assist with new student induction and registration processes
  • Using initiative and creativity promote activities to ensure all students are able to fully engage in the activity programme
  • Lead groups of students on excursions, following the pre-planned itinerary
  • Ensure that the students are accounted for and safe at all times during an activity or on an excursion
  • Attend pre-course staff induction arranged by Kings
  • Responsibility for ensuring all relevant preparation for a trip or activity is planned sufficiently
  • Familiarisation and understanding of the company’s policies, risk assessments, handbooks and procedures relevant to your role
  • Actively supervise and interact with students during meal and break times
  • Where required escort students to the residence
  • Assist at any time, whether on duty or not, with an emergency situation, or where a student is ill or injured
  • Engage with the students outside of classes and assigned activity sessions in a friendly and professional manner
  • Be a positive and professional role model and promote positive behaviour amongst students
  • Be suitably dressed in dedicated staff uniform when leading activities
  • Help students to successfully engage in the programme whilst helping to develop their independence, confidence, language and social skills
  • Provide feedback on your experiences during and at the end of the summer
  • Assist with other reasonable tasks as requested by your line manager or other senior staff

Hours of work

Varied shift pattern between the hours of 8am-23.00

Professional experience:

  • Previous work experience in leading or coaching groups of students
  • Previous experience in an educational setting
  • Experience working within a customer-based role, facing clients and agents.
  • A valid first aid qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Life Guard qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Sports coaching awards (desirable but not essential)
