Who is the International Study Centre for and what makes them different from students who apply directly to Downside School?

1. UK Government registration and inspection
Each of Kings' main international colleges is accredited as a boarding school by the UK Department for Education. As such Kings is regularly inspected by Ofsted — the most rigorous and detailed inspection regime in the country.
2. Outstanding provision for student welfare
Kings is renowned for the highest levels of student support and welfare. A recent Ofsted inspection report* noted: "The quality of the provision for students’ welfare, health and safety..is outstanding. Comprehensive induction and pastoral procedures ensure that they receive excellent preparation and support for their studies in the UK".

3. Excellence in teaching and learning
All Kings teachers are appropriately qualified to a high standard. Dynamic lessons involve interactive group work, and regular progress testing keeps students on track. Learning facilities include interactive white boards in every classroom and supplementary online resources. Kings' record of academic success is outstanding, with 56% A*– B grades at A-level, and 74% A*– C at GCSE at our main year-round schools in 2015.
4. Living and learning on campus
The Kings International Study Centre enables students to live and learn within a dedicated area of the campus. This provides students with a strong sense of belonging, just like a House within the main School.
5. Flexible student pathways
A Kings Education® is always student-centred. This means that courses and study paths can be tailored to the individual needs of each student. Flexibility is built into the programme with entry and exit points determined by age, level and ability.
6. Wide nationality mix
Students enrol with Kings from all over the world. In 2015, over 95 countries were represented at our colleges. This means we are able to create dynamic international communities in which English is used as the common language, and no student feels like an outsider.
